2008 Spring Concert

Getty Center : In 1983, the J. Paul Getty Trust purchased about 750 acres in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. Richard Meier was chosen to design the Getty Center. Meier wedded his Modernism style to more classical materials in order to express the Getty's roots in the past and belief in the future. The gardens and landscaping provide a counterpoint of color and texture to the complex of buildings. Most notable is the Center Garden-the creation of Robert Irwin, who has called it "a sculpture in the form of a garden aspiring to be art." The Getty Center opened to the public in December 1997.

Hsi Lai Temple : Hsi Lai Temple encompasses 15 acres and a floor area of 102,432 square feet. The temple's Ming (1268-1644 C. E.) and Ching (1644-1911 C.E.) dynasty architecture is faithful to the traditional style of buildings, gardens and statuary of traditional ancient Chinese monasteries. The ten-year planning and construction was completed in 1988. Hsi Lai means "coming to the West" and signifies the dedication of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order to spread the teachings of the Buddha to those in the West. "O Mi To Fo"
